“Where pleasures distract”
The Invitation
Simon Rees
Where pleasures distract and all soothing strains
the stilled heart –
where most do not look and the rest fail to see
what looks back;
down to the shoreline, along by the night-hammered crevasses of our carelessness,
through a wakeful chaos of dreams
to one pristine pool
(see there
splash
ripple
then spiral in a whirlpool of eyes
our pawned souls) come:
come, touch and be healed.
